The Karmic show at the LFW 2012 was a visual delight. With a posse of top-notch designers displaying their creations on well-toned, confident models, the objective of the show to promote Karmic as an affordable designer brand was pretty much met
The clothes are wearable and you can don them in a soiree without attracting unwanted glares. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why the showstopper of the show, Sonakshi Sinha was simplicity personified from head to toe. She was seen wearing a no-frills full-sleeved salwar kameez by JJ Valaya, teamed with a pretty dupatta. Although she did seem to us to be the right choice to represent affordable clothing, what was much more interesting to watch was the array of bright ensembles reflecting the signature style of seasoned designers. And to spice up the aesthetic fest were the front row self-proclaimed fashion aficionados. While some scrutinised the model trying to pick on flaws and good points, the others simply resorted to hobnobbing with each other when their concentration should have been on the collection being showcased. Akashdeep Saigal (aka Sky Walker) and Pooja Bedi were one such example who went on blabbering sweet nothings into each other’s ears throughout the session. Apart from this coochie-cooing couple, there was nothing literally that got our collective goats. While our personal favourite was Anamika Khanna and Rohit Bal, who created a statement with long flowing Anarkalis, even Kavita Bhartia was a surprising breath of fresh air with her unconventional salwars and dresses with jewel necklines and funky embellishments.
Just when we yearned for more, the show was over. But Karmic along with the delightfully plain-Jane Sonakshi did manage to infuse some good fashion karma on the house!

Kangna Ranaut strips for Ajay Devgn!
Khoon Bhari Maangs, Daminis and Mrityudands less likely to occur as the propagator of the Women's Day, Bollywood, as you think. Bollywood remains a field dominated by men, both off-screen and on screen. Not that the situation in which the cliché hero rescues the heroine from the clutches of the evil unhappy drama. It occurs more often than taking heroin with an ax and free. Sometimes it is hidden, and you may have to look at a movie or a scene twice to see, but still there. We bring you one of the campaign are easily pass for an accepted behavior, even jokes!
| Rascals: After his vision is restored, Khushi (Kangna Ranaut) visits Bhagat (Ajay Devgn) at the hospital. He pretends that the bright yellow colour of her shirt is affecting his eyes and asks that she should take it off. She immediately does so and, standing there in her innerwear, she dumbly asks, “Is it better now?” He looks at her lecherously and says, “It is the best.” |
| Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein: Madhav (Madhavan) pretends to be Rajiv (Saif Ali Khan) and woos Reena (Dia Mirza). When she finds out his true identity and breaks up with him, he blames her and sings about how you can never believe a woman. Hello, who was the liar here? Later, he and Rajiv get into a fight over who deserves the lady – and no, she is not asked for her choice. The film ends with Rajiv handing Reena over to Madhav with a little speech. As if she was just a piece of property. |
| Ready: Prem (Salman Khan) tries to impress Sanjana's (Asin) family so that they will agree to let him marry her. How does he do it? He tells them that he and Asin make a perfect match as he is a kutta (dog) and she is a kutiya (bitch). |
| Dum Maaro Dum: Describing the state of affairs in Goa, a character says, “Over here, liquor is cheap and women are cheaper.” The line had women’s organisations up in arms and Goans upset that the film fraternity that parties on their beaches also insults them. What we dislike is the way women are always used as a measure of society’s lack of growth. Men buy the liquor and the women, but don’t bear the brunt of their actions. Isn’t that what Silk (Vidya Balan) says in The Dirty Picture too? |
| RA.One: Sonia (Kareena Kapoor) is against the way certain common words that are demeaning to women are accepted by society as slang. She is even doing a thesis on the subject. How come she doesn’t have a problem when some strange men – back-up dancers - take off her skirt in the Criminal song? She continues waggling her behind in a little white dress. |
